Happy New Year from the Hess Family!

We thank the Lord for His many blessings during 2019, and are excited to see what He has in store for 2020! As many of you may know, Haiti has been in political turmoil for over a year now, and it has been very dangerous for us to be there. Those involved have tried to remove President Jovenel Moise from power, trying to accuse him of corruption, but in reality, these attacks are unfounded and this has left the country paralyzed with riots and demonstrations.

We know that Satan does not want the Word of God to be preached, and he seeks to divide, destroy, and discourage. In Philippians we read, “12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This verse really puts the attack of the enemy into perspective and all throughout scripture we find hope, but I like this verse in Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

In the midst of everything going on, God is still moving and changing lives.

Although halted for a while due to unrest, our open-air bible studies are still underway. There is two a week, and the Lord is helping some of our young people to step up and begin helping with those.

After three months of not being able to open our school due to unrest, we are finally open this month! We had been holding some mini vacation bible schools during this time, but were not permitted by the government to officially open. We are thankful to be getting our children back on schedule, many of them benefit from our food program and suffer when school is closed.

As you may know, we have been working for over two years now to improve the clinic facilities. We began first, by remodeling and putting a new roof on, then followed with adding on a maternity room, OBGYN office, and administration office onto the back. At the end of the year we were able to seal off our delivery room add air conditioning and begin setting it up for c-sections and other surgical procedures having to do with obstectrics. These services are much needed considering we have over 85 active pregnancies every month.

We have been able to purchase some patient monitors, a new ultrasound and some other equipment that will allow us to provide better care.

Although we have raised a significant amount of funds to purchase equipment, there is much more equipment needed for surgeries to happen. We have a OBGYN surgeon on staff, ready and waiting! Those in the medical community understand the cost of even one piece of equipment, so we want to take this time to thank each and every one of you that have given towards the equipment.

Our veterans’ program (55 and up) continues to be a blessing to the elderly in our clinic community. We meet once a month to give a checkup, fellowship and feed them. We have had many family members come and express their gratitude for this unique program.

During the political unrest the mission decided to open up a meals-on-wheels program to be able to feed the elderly people in our Despinos church. We provided the funds, and our youth department took over the cooking and delivering of the food every Friday.

As we go into this new year, there are many things that we want and need to accomplish in the ministry. Gods work is never finished!

We thank you so much for your support in the past year, and trust you are ready to join us once again in 2020! We covet your prayers!

Urgent Needs!!

· We have an urgent need to repair/ upgrade our electric system at the mission house. The cost is ………$3,500

· Security fence behind mission house (the property is very large and will ultimately cost $20-25,000 to fence it all in. However, as we get any funds, we will be able to initially secure the area just behind the house, providing more safety for our family.

· We are in desperate need of a part or full time missionary to join us. With having to travel more, we are in much need of help to maintain the many areas of our ministry. Help us pray and spread the word to those you know who are praying for Gods will! Please contact us if you have any questions!
